What an incredible behind-the-scenes racing experience!
Our Pony Club members were treated to a unique morning at Ascot, gaining real insight into the world of racing. Highlights of the experience included:
• Watching trackwork riders and horses complete their morning work on the track
• A Q&A session with a professional racehorse trainer Mr Simon Miller
• Walking through the stalls and seeing horses being saddled up for training
• Touring a working racehorse stable with Mr Neville Parnham
• Visiting the Apprentice Jockey training room
• Trying out riding techniques on the mechanical horses
• Meeting an apprentice jockey Jefferson, and learning about his racing journey from Hong Kong and now in Western Australia.
Experiences like this give our members a real glimpse into the racing industry and the many pathways available within it. What a behind the scenes look, all guided by our host John Claite, who is the Senior Jockey Coach.
We are so grateful for the opportunity and support that made this day possible — and who knows, we may have inspired some future jockeys, trainers, or industry professionals!
