Do I need to become a member of pony club to be an official?
Yes you do. You will join Pony Club WA Direct to become and official and your WWC card will be recorded there as well. That will give you a listing on our website where clubs can find you to book your services.
*You can also be a member of a particular club as a supporter member and also be a Pony Club WA direct member as an official.
What is the minimum age to become an accredited official?
Is a Working With Children check (WWC) required?
Yes, you need to have a current Working With Children check uploaded to your membership under Pony Club WA Direct when you join as an official. This will also be recorded on the website so people can find you to book you for events.
Are there any courses I need to complete?
Yes, you must complete the following Australian Sports Commission (ASC) courses and record them in JustGo (click below):
Do I need to complete any additional modules?
Yes, you must complete the Gear Checker Accreditation module.

Become an Accredited Gear Checker
Requirements
- Be aged 18 years or over
- Hold (or be willing to attain) a current Working With Children Check
- Be actively involved in Pony Club Activities at club, zone or state level.
- Fulfill accreditation requirements.
Acreditation Process
- Attend and complete a Gear Checking Basic Clinic
- Record a minimum of 5 hours Gear Checking at Pony Club WA Events (including rallies and competitions).
- Hours can be back-dated 12 months prior to your accreditation application.
- Complete the free AIS Online ‘Introductory to Officiating General Principles’ course
- Apply to attend a Gear Checking Accreditation Clinic, this will include the following:
- Open Book Written or Oral Assessment
- Practical Assessment
- Recognition of Prior Learning can be used to reduce the training process. All RPL requests must be submitted to GCAP using the Record of Gear Checking Form along with a letter outlining your request.

- Be appointed by the State Coaching Panel to the list of current Pony club WA C Examiners List (through Club and Zone Nomination)
C* CERTIFICATE EXAMINERS
- Hold a current PCANCAS Level 1 Accreditation
- Be familiar with the Pony Club Australia Syllabus of Instruction
- Attend Coaching Schools and Examiners Schools
- Have produced candidates to C and C* Efficiency standard
- Be appointed by the State Coaching Panel to the list of current Pony club WA C*/K Examiners List (through Club and Zone Nomination)
K CERTIFICATE EXAMINERS
- Hold a current PCANCAS Level 1 Accreditation or be approved by the State Coaching Panel as a specialist in their area of expertise.
- Be familiar with the Pony Club Australia Syllabus of Instruction
- Attend Coaching Schools and Examiners Schools
- Be appointed by the State Coaching Panel to the list of current Pony club WA C*/K Examiners List (through Club and Zone Nomination)

State Coaching Panel
The State Coaching Panel is responsible for carrying out the policies created by Pony Club Australia as they relate to the education, assessment and accreditation of members, coaches and officials of Pony Club Western Australia, subject to the approval of the Board.
The Panel is responsible for:
- arranging educational events such as coaching schools, that include members, clubs and coaches,
- assisting with club accreditations,
- assisting with assessing and accrediting coaches,
and all other matters that may be relevant to Coaching for members of the Association.

Become a Certificate Examiner
All clubs affiliated with Pony Club WA run certificate examinations throughout the year. All examinations require a suitable examiner, examiners appointments differ for every certificate, please see below for the requirements for each certificate.
E Certificate Examiners
- Registered as a Coach with Pony Club WA (May be from within the club or from another club)
- Be familiar with the Pony Club Australia Syllabus of Instruction
- Attend Coaching Schools
- Be currently coaching at Pony Club Rallies at E and D Level
- Be appointed by the Club Chief Coach
D Certificate Examiners
- Registered as a Coach with Pony Club WA (May be from within the club or from another club)
- Be familiar with the Pony Club Australia Syllabus of Instruction
- Attend Coaching Schools
- Be currently coaching at Pony Club Rallies at D and D* Level
- Be appointed by the Club Chief Coach
D* Certificate Examiners

Eligibility for Pony Club Australia Official Qualifications
To be eligible for PCA qualifications, you must be aged over 18. Prospective coaches must complete the following steps and record their progress in PCA’s JustGo database:
Complete Required Courses from the Australian Sports Commission (ASC):
- Community Coaching Essentials course
- Safeguarding Children and Young People in Sport Induction course
- National Integrity Framework course
- Complete the Gear Checker Accreditation module
