Larkhill Thoroughbred Training Complex is one of Racing WA training racecourses and conducts trials every fortnight on a Monday all year round! A “racing trial” is an official practice event used to prepare, educate, or qualify racehorses and apprentice jockeys. Only qualified jockeys and apprentice jockeys are approved to ride in trials.
A select group of riders got to fulfill a dream and ride on the racetrack under the guidance of Peter and John, who manage the training of apprentice Jockeys through the Racing WA scheme at Lark Hill and at Ascot Racecourse in Western Australia. These training programs have produced some exceptional jockeys, and our riders were honoured to be coached by them before they went around the track.
Our riders all aquitted themselves well, and if the grins after their ride past the finishing posts were anything to go by, everyone was a winner.
Pony Club WA is incredibly grateful for these opportunities for our members, and know that it takes time out of very busy schedules to accomodate us.
These days will be available in the future, so if you missed out on this round stay tuned for the next one. You will need to be signed off by your coach to be competent to ride at pace so get practicing
