Pony Club WA’s Great Southern Zone will host a Judging & Course Design Workshop on 12–13 September 2026, providing a valuable opportunity for Pony Club members, coaches and officials to develop their knowledge of show jumping judging and course design.
Held at West Plantagenet Pony Club, the two-day workshop will be presented by highly experienced officials Fred Freeman, EA National Course Design Presenter, EA Level 3 Course Designer and Level 1 Judge, and Judy Rose, EA Level 1 Judge and EA Level 2 Course Designer.
Across the weekend, participants will cover a broad range of practical and theoretical topics including officials’ roles, accreditation pathways, jumping rules, types of classes, course plans, safety, judging, course design and course building. Saturday will include presentations on judging and the principles of course design, while Sunday moves into practical judging, scoresheets, drawing course plans, building competition courses and course inspection.
There will also be an opportunity for participants working towards accreditation to complete assessment requirements. Those wishing to sit accreditation papers will need to do so from 10.30am–12.30pm on Sunday.
Whether you are looking to begin your officials journey, work towards accreditation or simply strengthen your understanding of show jumping judging and course design, this workshop is a great opportunity to learn from experienced presenters in a practical Pony Club environment.
